WWE Chairman Vince McMahon REVEALS that Roman Reign’s absence is one of the reasons for low TRPs
Roman Reigns undoubtedly ruled the WWE matches, but his fans were shocked when he announced that his Leukemia relapsed and he has to take some time off the ring to focus on health. This announcement not only surprised his fans and viewers but also wrestlers and WWE management. All the plans that WWE were preparing for him were put on hold due to his illness. Roman was the face of the company and was holding the Universal Championship at the time and he played a prominent role in the WWE programming.
Not only this, his departure has also led to the drop in TRPs. As per reports, the TV ratings of both RAW and SmackDown Live have been going down for some months now and in December it even reached its lowest TRP.
In a presentation made by the company to its investors, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon revealed that poor TRP ratings are due to the loss of some of WWE’s top performers. “The unfortunate aspect of sometimes in our business is that our performers are not cartoons. They get hurt. This year, leading up to where we are now, we’ve had an inordinate number of injuries,” said McMahon. “And when you have injuries, there’s a whole bunch of them. Roman Reigns being the principle among them.
“In addition to that, we’ve had injuries to Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, who is one of our top female performers, was injured. Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Bray Wyatt, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Braun Strowman, Dean Ambrose, Ember Moon, Samoa Joe, Akam (from AOP), Jason Jordan, Fandango, Big Show, Seth Rollins. It’s like we had all these injuries, which is really unusual for us, and they’re characters.”
