Parineeti Chopra spills the beans on the real reason why she did Kesari with Akshay Kumar

Parineeti Chopra essays the role of Akshay Kumar’s wife in the film Kesari. In spite of the lesser screen space, Parineeti decided to do the film as she wanted Kesari to be a part of her filmography. In an interview given to Mumbai Mirror, Chopra revealed that when producer Karan Johar offered her the role, she didn’t ask him about the number of scenes she will have and signed the film as she wanted to work with Karan Johar, director Anurag Singh and Akshay Kumar.

She further added that there is a particular romantic song in the film that she fell in love it and was one of the main reason to do this period drama. It then became a running joke between her and Karan Johar that she did the film only for that romantic song. Talking about why she did the film, Parineeti said, “Fifty years from now, I can proudly say that Kesari is a part of my filmography”. She further added, “Kesari is about the boys. Of course, my character doesn’t figure in the battle. As a part of the love story in the film, I play Akshay’s deceased wife. Havildar Ishar Singh thinks about her and their love at crucial moments of his life”.

I personally think it’s smart of her to act next to famous actors like Akshay now to gain certain fan following and then slowly have a transition towards more meaningful cinema. She can act but people don’t really know her yet. Movies like this will give people a chance to recognize her face first since people have forgotten her after her hiatus.

she did this because she had no other big film offers.

Cant believe she used to be one of my favorite actors! Its like you never learned how to bounce back, Parineeti.
