“ I believe I was ill-adviced legally regarding the matter,” says Anurag Kashyap.
Anurag Kashyap on Sunday apologized to the women who have accused the Queen director and Kashayp’s partner at Phantom Films Vikas Bahl for molestation. Due to the legal advice given to them at that time, he was bounded to act in a certain way as he said that he had “very limited options” and now believes he was “ill-adviced.” The former added by saying that Vikas Bahl was suspended and barred from the premises immediately also all the authorities were taken back from him.
A former employee at Phantom Films had reiterated her accusations against Bahl during a HuffPost article recently. The lady said that she shared her experiences of molestation with Anurag Kashyap, nothing was done, also she had to quit.
Anurag broke his silence finally and said that the victim didn’t want the incident to be discussed and her wishes had to be respected. “We have spoken out now as she has allowed her story to be spoken out, although anonymously. Thus not we were lawfully handicapped in coming forth also to take a stand brazenly, also we had to respect her stand and decision regarding the same.”
Kashyap explained why the contract of Phantom Films didn’t have the required clause of misconduct. “I can’t raise that question as a result of I confidingly signed that contract, and yes, I believe I was a fool as to not understand what I am signing for.”
Vikramaditya Motwane, the previous partner of Kashyap, Bahl and Madhu Mantena at Phantom Films, also apologized to the victim through a separate Twitter statement. He said he is truly sorry about what happened. He called Vikas Bahl a sexual offender, he has preyed on a girl, abused her trust and ruined her life. “The only thing I can do is offer an apology,” he said. He even promised that nothing like this will ever happen again under his watch.
